The failure categories, not a specific verdict
Reports about this category of live, webcam-based service tend to cluster into a handful of shapes, regardless of which specific app or domain is involved:
- The page won't load — stuck on a spinner, blank screen, or never advances past a loading state.
- The camera won't start — permission denied, black screen, or another app already holding the device.
- The scan gets stuck — the face-detection step never completes, or completes but never returns a result.
- A 0.0 or failed score — the scan ran but couldn't get a usable read.
- Mobile-specific quirks — iOS and Android browsers handle camera permission prompts differently once a prompt has already been dismissed once.
None of this tells you whether one specific incident is a server-side outage or a local device issue — only that these are the shapes the category takes.
What's actually within your control
Several causes in the list above are local, not server-side, and apply to any browser-based camera feature, not one app specifically:
- Camera ownership. Close other apps that use the camera — video-call software, screen recorders, a second tab — before opening a live camera feature.
- Site permission. Check the browser's own per-site camera permission; a previous "block" click sticks until it's manually reset.
- A fresh window. Privacy extensions, ad blockers, and VPNs occasionally interfere with camera or WebRTC requests; a clean browser window with those disabled isolates whether they're the cause.
- Frame quality. Even, front-facing light and a mostly-frontal, unobstructed face give any face-landmark model its best chance at a clean detection — the same principle behind Mogalytics' own four-point practice checklist.
- The right domain. Confirm you're on the specific site you intend to be on before assuming a fix (or an outage) reported for one domain applies to a similarly named one.
What Mogalytics is, and plainly isn't
